WHAT IS THE FANCY FOOD SHOW?

  1. Grown – up snacking is on the rise – with brands offering snacks with flavour profiles geared towards more mature pallets.
  2. Global twists on conventional flavours – Whether it’s the addition of yuzu, hot sauces spanning the globe from Peru to Ethiopia, or the “new bomba ”, ajvar , from the Balkans. Brands aren’t afraid to show off some international flair.
  3. Plant – based reaches new heights – Brands were showing off their new plant – based offerings from dumplings, to koji fermented deli meats there was plenty of innovation on display.
  4. Health is front of mind – Consumers are increasingly looking to their everyday foods to get a health boost. Whether its from functional mushrooms in beverages, or probiotics on their fruit chews health focused foods were all around.

  6. Convenience is king – As consumers are being continually pressed for time, they are looking to convenience foods to fill that gap.
  7. Hunger for spicy foods hasn’t wavered – Spicy is as trendy as ever with snack foods, condiments, honey, and prepared foods all getting spicy.
  8. Premiumization is in full effect – Brands are seeing the opportunity to create premium products. From hot chocolate mixes made from single origin cocoa, to dry aged ribeye flavoured potato chips premium products were on display.
  9. Co-branding – Leveraging a popular brand’s equity and moving it to a new category offers the opportunity for increased visibility and growth.

  • Consumers increasingly see snacking as an opportunity to explore new flavours , concepts, or even diet trends.
  • Snacking is the most popular eating occasion for Millennials, and ranks second for Generation Z.
  • Snacks are increasingly seen by Millennial and Generation Z consumers as a valid meal and are turning to snacks that offer more than previously.
